It’s good to be home . . .

Rich here – -

We got home on Thursday morning from the hospital, and it was a good thing too! The hospital room was making us a bit stir crazy. We are comfortable and happy to be back on Carmen Dr. Nora’s doing well. She’s a happy baby, we’ve been getting to know each other the last few days. She spends hours awake, just staring around the room. Gurgling and cooing to herself. She likes it when we sing to her, but for some reason we can’t remember the words to any of our songs!

We’ve gotten lots of lovely flowers, they’ve made the house a bright, welcoming place for our new addition. Thanks for the flowers!

Nora’s second day

I’m writing from the hospital room.  Marie and Nora are sleeping, and I’m  on the pull-out chair , getting there soon.  We had a nice afternoon, but Marie felt very overwhelmed with nurses & doctors this morning.  They always seem to come when I’m not here.  They seem to leave us alone when I’m in the room.

Anyway, all that poking and prodding has resulted in a clean bill of health for mom & baby, which is the most important thing.

We’ve had a very nice experience here, the doctors and nurses have been great, and even the food’s not too bad, but we are eager to take Nora home where we can be comfortable.  Tomorrow morning we will brave the cold to get her home.

So far, Nora is a most agreeable baby.  She’s curious, loves to be wrapped up in her blanket and then just stares out from her little peep-hole blinking slowly, looking around.  She’s eating like a champ, and I’ve had plenty of practice to shake the rust off of my diaper changing skills.   — just as I wrote this, Nora started fussing. . . her nose must have been itching, or ears burning, or whatever it is when someone talks about you.  She’s back in the bassinet after fifteen minutes snoozing on daddy’s chest.

The 37th week. . .

So,  the countdown continues.  It’s kind of funny you are counting down, but there is no fixed point in time when the baby is coming.  I guess that makes it easier somehow.  . . but we could be waiting anything from a few hours to four weeks.  Here’s Marie posing for a belly picture.
