One Month Old

Today is Nora’s one month birthday and I can’t believe how much she’s changed. We went to the doctor for her check up and she was pronounced to be in good health and doing wonderfully. She has also grown a lot. She now weighs in at 10 pounds and is 22 inches long! We’ve had to put away her newborn clothes and went shopping for some bigger outfits.

Nora has started developing her personality. She is generally a happy baby and cries pretty much only when she wants to eat, which happens to be quite often. She looks around and takes in her surroundings. She likes to look at faces and will focus on her toys. She moves her arms to reach for things, but still hasn’t quite developed control of them. She likes to lift her legs high in the air and is getting more head control. She can lift her head up and look around. She gets frustrated though because she wants to move and turn over, but can’t do it yet. She can roll over from her side to her back, too.

Mom and Dad are doing well, too. We are starting to get a little bit more sleep. Rich has had the week off from school, so we have enjoyed hanging out as a family. We’ve also started our spring cleaning and getting the house ready for when Grandma, Grandpa and Aunt Kimberly come to visit. We are looking forward to summer when we will all be home together again. Daddy’s little girl

Nora, for better or for worse has inherited dad’s bed-head.  A nearly constant state of affairs fought only temporarily through thorough wetting, combing, and the occasional greasing back.

This is the greatest

I could sit for hours like this, indeed I do. I love the way Nora snuggles up to my neck as I lie on the couch. She sleeps right on top of my heart, I think she likes the sound of it.

This week is spring break. I’ve been looking forward to hanging out with the girls for a while now. I needed the time off. I enjoy forensics, and the tournaments, but this last few weeks of qualifiers really took it out of me. Time to rest and recuperate now.

Some pics for the Nora admirers out there.

Nora loves tummy time

Here’s another video of the baby! If you are viewing this in your email, you will probably want to go to the blog page.

3 weeks old

I can’t believe how much Nora has changed in just this last week. We went to the doctor yesterday and she has gained almost a whole pound since last week. There’s not worry if she is getting enough to eat. She has started to get herself into a routine and has mom and dad almost trained on how to get maximum sleep. We’ve figured if we sleep in shifts we can get more!

Nora is such a happy baby. She has really become alert and curious lately. She loves to look outside and watch the snow. She has also started to grab at things. Yesterday during her bath she reached out and grabbed a flower out of the vase. We do tummy time every day and Nora is getting really good at lifting her head. She moves her legs and butt too. This child will be moving around before we know it.

Rich and I have started to venture outside with her a little bit. We do short trips, I’m still wary of all the germs. The weather is starting to get nicer so we have been going on walks too. Nora usually sleeps through them, but the fresh air is nice and the dogs appreciate it.

I’ve attached some new pictures of Nora for you to enjoy.

Week two

It’s hard to believe that Nora turned two weeks old yesterday. . . . It’s hard to believe that so many days pass before I have enough time to sit and fiddle with the computer. I write this over a week ago before finally cracking the puzzle of embedding video into the blog, she will in fact be three weeks tomorrow . . . It seems like she’s always been with us. Every day she changes just a little bit. She’s starting to take a real interest in the world around her. She’s a happy baby most of the time. When she’s awake she gets ‘tummy time,’ mostly with mom. I sing to her, badly, and usually forgetting most of the words and then making up our own songs. We’ve also been reading. I read her first book “Guess how much I love you.” the day she was born, and we also like “I’ll love you forever” but that book makes Marie cry — every time.

Since everyone always asks, Nora sleeps pretty well, all things considered. Occasionally she has a rough night, but she seems to be getting into some sort of routine, even if it’s not the routine we would have chosen for her.

Here’s a cute video of Nora with her bathtime ducky:
