Wow! Is it really a month and a half since we last posted to the blog? Well, I can tell you that we have been really busy, but maybe we could have squeezed in a post to let you all know what was going on with us and Nora.
Nora’s Grandma and Aunt Kimberly left this morning to go back to North Carolina, and soon, Kimberly returns to her final stretch in Bolivia. Grandma, Aunt and baby had a great week together. Of course, Grandma exercised her rights of showing off the baby to Great Aunt Linda and Great Uncle Bill, who were rightly taken with our cute little baby. Maybe not so little any more. Our other adventure this week was our two month checkup. Nora weighs in at a hefty 12 lb 3 oz, but more than makes up for that by having shot up to 24 inches long. She also got her shots on Monday. I’ve never seen her scream like that before. It was pretty heartbreaking to see her upset, but she soon calmed down. She was a bit cranky for Grandma for the rest of the week. All appears to be well now.
Since I last wrote a blog post, Granny (that’s my Grandma Tattershall) has been to visit, and has returned safely home. What luck little Nora has to be spoiled by so many different generations. Nora spent a week with Grandma & Granny too when Marie returned (sadly) to work. I think Nora gave them a run for their money on Monday, but they seemed rejuvenated and excited to spend the week carting the baby around to all of the people dying to see my mom’s new granddaughter.
While everyone was in town, we had the opportunity to have Nora baptized on April 20th. The ceremony was during the Youth Sunday, which seemed fitting, and was performed by our pastor, family friend David Watson, who married us. The day was beautiful, and was topped off by a small reception at our house with all of the family members. What a nice way to celebrate such a special day in the new life of Eleanor Josephine. Today, instead of tackling the chores waiting for us (laundry, cleaning, yard work, etc) we blew off everything and took the dogs on a walk, and then threw together a picnic lunch to eat on Flagstaff Hill in Oakland. It was great, we stopped and got Nora a cute pair of sunglasses (that are too big) and a sunhat (that she took off.) After we all ate on the hill in front of the Conservatory, we went together to see the new exhibit at Phipps, and walk all through the greenhouses and gardens. Nora, of course slept much of the time, but mom and dad enjoyed the time out together on our first real family outing (shopping does NOT count.) Eventually Nora woke up and cooed at the butterflies in the Stove Room, and was her normal curious self, looking around and graciously receiving unsolicited compliments from strangers. That must be the life, being carried around (by dad – poor mom ended up carrying all the stuff!) (Photos on Flickr)
